Built by United Empire Loyalist David Demorist ca. 1844, this timber frame mill has an interesting history. The original mill structure was built with hand-hewn pine timbers and topped with a split shingle roof. Initially powered by an overshot waterwheel, this was later replaced by a more efficient water-driven turbine in the 1880s. Although destroyed by fire in 1923, it was rebuilt and was basically in operation from 1846 to 1966 when it was acquired by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.

The mill is being lovingly restored by the Harrington Community Club. Come and view their restoration efforts: the hand-hewn pine timbers, the stone rubble foundations, the original oat roller, and running gear.
